Overcoming Shyness is Hard! And that’s something I know all too well. When I first went to college, I was incredibly intimidated by the size of the campus and the number of people that I didn’t know.
If you’re like me and are a little too shy for your own good, you know that it can be hard to make new friends and form connections.
It’s easy to feel left out, and it can be hard to join conversations when everyone else is already talking. It’s also tough to ask questions in class or get help from professors when you’re too shy to speak up.
I experienced all these things first-hand and to be frank, I found it really disheartening. And my college experience wasn’t living up to my expectations. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and work on overcoming my shyness. I started with baby steps, of course! 🍼🐣🐼
I started by saying “hi” to people in the hallway and making small talk at lunch. I also signed up for clubs that interested me and volunteered to be a part of group projects in class. Sure, it was awkward at first, but the more I pushed myself to talk to people, the easier it got!
Little by little, I was able to open up more and make new friends. It really was a process, but it ended up being worth it in the end.
