My first semester of college was definitely an eye-opening experience. I mean it’s hard to forget all of the freedom and (lack of) responsibility I thought I had. I was so sure I would be able to manage my time perfectly and get everything done without any problem.

It took a few more missteps (like planning to write two essays the night before and then only having an hour left to do so) for me to realize that time management in college was no joke.
At least It wasn’t as easy as I thought—you need to plan ahead, be organized, and really stick to it! I had to learn how to manage my time quickly and efficiently if I wanted to remain sane.
Even though it took me a few weeks to get into the groove of things, I eventually figured out a system that worked for me.
For starters, I started planning out my weeks in advance. Rather than waiting until Sunday night to figure out what I had to do for the week, I would plan it out on Saturday or even earlier. This way, I could leave some time for spontaneous activities without feeling guilty.
I also began to create daily to-do lists. I would list out all the tasks that needed to be completed for the day, and I would schedule a couple of breaks in between work sessions. This helped me stay focused and motivated throughout the day
