It wasn’t easy to balance my social life and hectic college schedule at first!
My friends were always trying to get me to go out and have fun, while my professors were pushing me to stay on top of my assignments.
Every time I actually did go out with my friends, I felt guilty because I knew that I should have stayed home(AKA my dorm room) and studied. Then, when I did stay in to study, I felt like I was missing out on the fun. It felt like a never-ending cycle. 🌀🔁
Eventually, I realized that it was possible to have a little bit of both.
I made sure to schedule some time for myself each day or week to hang out with my besties and do something fun. This usually involved going out for a quick bite or coffee🧋, taking a break from studying to do the classic Netflix & Chill🍿🎞️, or just gossiping over pizza and crying our hearts out over our love lives..
On the flip side, I also knew that if I wanted to pass my classes and get good grades, I had to stay focused and put in the hard work. That usually meant setting aside a few hours each day to study and get ahead on upcoming assignments. Which I did, religiously!

And when things got rough or I was limited on time, I learned to make studying a part of my social life. For example, instead of meeting my guy for dinner, I’d invite him over to my dorm and we would work on our assignments together. If my friends wanted to meet up for drinks, I’d ask them to come over so we could have a movie night complete with popcorn and studying via flashcards.
And (slowly)🐌 somewhere along the way, I learned how to figure out how to have a social life and do well in college simultaneously! All it took were a few small changes on my part, which included:
1. Utilizing my negotiation skills to convince my friends that fun doesn’t necessarily mean getting trashed beyond recognition with music blasting in the background
2. Always making it a point to include my boyfriend in my study sessions so we could spend some time together EVEN THOUGH it was all about hearting definitions and formulas.
3. Having enough mental willpower 💪🏼🏇🏼 to resist some late-night parties (even though I succumbed more often than not – no regrets here!).
4. By meticulously planning my time to include everything like staying sane, maintaining a social life, cuddling, journaling, performing well in college, catching up on my reading list (with some delicious peppermint mocha!), and spending time with my family.
It wasn’t easy (and sometimes not very exciting), but it was worth it. I’m proud that I figured out how to achieve a balance between my social life and college life and still graduate 🎓 with the grades I wanted. Even now, I make an effort to keep the balance in check.

As I said It’s not always easy, but it’s doable and definitely worth it! Now if only I could figure out how to balance my social life and my job… baby steps! *sighs in an entirely different blog post*
Cheers to making it work, one day at a time! 🙂 😊👻
The Art of Maintaining a Balanced Social Life in College
As college students, social life and schoolwork go hand in hand. It’s not just about the all-nighters you pull trying to finish an essay or cram for a test – social life💃🏼 in college is just as important.
After all, what’s the point of going to college if you don’t take the time to make friends and create epic memories that will last you a lifetime?

With that said, there’s no need to be overwhelmed by the idea of having to find a balance between your social life and schoolwork.
As a college student who has had plenty of social life experience, I’ve got some awesome advise on how to make socializing and studying work together. Here’s my guide to help you find the perfect balance and get the most out of your college experience:
1. Plan social activities around your schedule
The key to balancing social life and schoolwork is planning around your busy schedule.
If you know you have an upcoming test or paper due, plan social activities earlier in the week. And dedicate more time to studying as the weekend approaches. This way, you can socialize without worrying about falling behind in schoolwork.
2. Make study dates with your friends
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to socialize with your friends and studying at the same time. Instead of planning to meet up at a local coffee shop or bar, why not make it a study date instead?
Not only will this be beneficial for you and your friends in terms of getting work done, but it will also make studying less boring. ❌🥱🛂
Plus, with all your friends around you, it’s way easier to stay focused on studying.

Here are some fun, yet slightly nerdy, study date ideas:
1. Library Picnic: Let’s face it, the library can be a pretty boring place to study. So why not spice things up by bringing some picnic snacks 🥪🥞🍜 and having a study date at the library?
2. Local Coffee Shop Study Session: If sitting in the library isn’t your thing, try studying in a local coffee shop. Grab some lattes and snacks and have a study session with your friends – it’s the perfect way to hang out while also getting some work done.

3. Potluck Study Group: If you have a big test or project coming up, why not get together with your friends and have a potluck-style study group? Bring some snacks and drinks, invite your classmates over, and make studying a group activity.
3. Prioritize: Managing your Social Life in College
As a college student, there will inevitably be times when you have to choose between studying and socializing.
This can be tough. Especially when your friends are asking you to hang out with them. But it’s important to prioritize and pick what’s best for you. If you have an important exam or project due, make sure to focus on that and put socializing on the back burner.
4. Take advantage of all the Seasonal Breaks
Every semester has breaks and holidays built into the schedule. While some of these can be used for social activities, use them wisely. 🤔💫
Take advantage of the free time to socialize with friends and family. But when necessary, use them to catch up on any schoolwork you may have fallen behind on.
5. Take some time for yourself
Life in college can be hectic and socializing can take up a lot of time. It’s important to remember to take some time for yourself in order to recharge and refocus.
Whether it’s going for a walk or just reading a book on a cozy weekend, make sure you’re giving yourself some time to relax and clear your head.

When it comes down to it, school and social life can coexist peacefully — as long as you manage your time wisely.
